90s Icons as Candy

Iconic 90s Candy

We can all agree that the 90s hold a very special place in our hearts. Everything about this decade is vibrant, exciting, and memorable! From the lovable TV characters to our favorite artists, this decade provided all things entertainment! This is why we, naturally, decided to have some fun in the Funhouse and make a list of 90s icons as candies from that decade.

Fresh Prince/Ring Pops

Starting the list off hot and fresh, we have the Fresh Prince as Ring Pops! This sweet candy accessory is the perfect representation of the iconic sitcom star. A prince is usually adorned by grand gems and jewels, and with Will Smith's fashion sense, the Ring Pop would be a great addition!

I personally believe the only thing missing from his arrival in Bel-Air was a stack of Ring Pops he could enjoy during the dinner party in the first episode. With his child-like essence and fun presence, this candy accessory is a great pairing with this 90s icon.

Olsen Twins/Cry Baby Tears

You can’t reflect on the 90s without mentioning the Olsens! These twins ran the kid/tween market in the 90s and early 2000s. You couldn’t go to a store without seeing their faces on accessories, clothes, and even video games. But far before the global twin takeover, they were babies on a “little-known” show called Full House.

The reason we paired them with Cry Baby Tears is because in the past John Stamos had spoken about the Olsens frequently crying in between scenes. This was such an issue for production that they were considering switching the babies for another pair of twins. Thank goodness that didn’t happen because we would've lived in a universe without Holiday in the Sun!

Zack Morris/Sneaky Stardust

Hey, hey, hey. What’s going on here? Zack Morris may have been a Bayside heartthrob, but he was also a major menace to his class, particularly Mr. Belding. Which is why he's been awarded Sneaky Stardust bubblegum as his candy pairing.

Let’s face it, if the show didn’t set him as the protagonist, he would’ve definitely been the antagonist with all the crazy shenanigans he got his friends involved in. From ditching class, hypnotizing women, starting a band and pretty much doing anything that wasn't school related, Zack Morris was as sneaky as they come! But we won’t lie, Zack Morris is always going to be our 90s dreamboat.

Steve Irwin/Fun Dip

Almost everyone and their mom knows about Steve Irwin, and the lasting legacy he’s left behind. Any time you hear someone speak about him, they always mention his positive light and fun spirit!

Steve Irwin was an adventurous man with a zest for life and pairing him with Fun Dip only made sense. Any adventure he would embark on was lead by his fun nature and true passion for his job. Mr. Steve Irwin is sorely missed but his fun-loving spirit will surely live on!!

Steve Urkel/Nerds

Did I do thaaat?? I think this one speaks for itself. The iconic Family Matters character that barged into our hearts is an undisputed 90s icon. Steve Urkel is the quintessential image of a dorky dude, so naturally, we paried his character with Nerds candy.

These sweet little candies are a fan favorite from the 90s and are still heavily popular today. Kinda like the character of Steve Urkel. Always reliable, tags along wherever you go, and truly sweet — sounds like Urkel to us!

Baby Spice/Baby Bottle Pop

The Spice Girls may have only been an active group for the final 3 years of the 90s but there is no denying that they left an indelible mark on the pop music scene during that decade. We paired Baby Spice with the iconic Baby Bottle Pop for its obvious similarity -- the name.

Baby Spice is known as the baby of the group and the Baby Bottle Pop, while shaped like a baby’s bottle, is filled with a sweet essence that every adolescent adored — just like Baby!

Mariah Carey/Chupa Chups Melody Pops

As one of the great vocalists of the 90s, and arguably of all time, Mariah Carey is an undisputed 90s icon. Debuting her first single in 1990, Carey captivated audiences with her vocals and unmistakable whistle tone, thrusting her to the limelight and eventually dominating the decade of the 90s.

That's why we paired her with the Chupa Chups Melody Pops, a lollipop candy that whistles when you blow on it. You can grab a Melody Pop and sound just like Mariah Carey in one blow! Of course, Mariah’s vocals can never be replicated but we can dream, can’t we?

There you go folks! Our list of 90s icons as popular 90s candies. We definitely had a blast taking a trip down memory lane but you can be certain that our hearts forever remain in that decade, so it wont be too long before we visit the 90s again.

Do you agree with our list of pairings? Did we leave out any 90s icons that you think would match with other candies? Let us know!!
